Ribery leaves Manchester airport in the grasp of copper... but before United fans get their hopes up, it's only for crowd control

Franck Ribery left Manchester Airport in the grasp of a police officer as Bayern Munich arrived ahead of their Champions League tie with United.

He may have been shadowed towards the team coach but it wasn't because of any misdemeanours and more of a way to get him safely through the crowd that had gathered.

Bayern play at Old Trafford on Tuesday night and go into the quarter-final as huge favourites having already wrapped up the Bundesliga title.

‘It is great to be champions again, but this title is not enough for us,’ said German keeper Manuel Neuer. ‘We want to go all the way again in the Champions’ League.

'We are all very eager to reach the final in Lisbon, so there is no chance whatsoever that we will ease up, just because we are champions again.

'We remain 100 per cent focused on the remaining games, because we want to make history by defending all our trophies. That would mean a lot to us and is driving us on.

'A clean sweep two years running would be special and is all we can think of. We really want to win all our remaining games. That is the mentality of this team, and it will motivate us on Tuesday night.’
