Former West Brom striker donates entire contents of his house to charity instead of moving it all

Everyone has that moment (or 100) while enduring the frustrations of moving when they wish they could just get rid of all their stuff instead of meticulously packing it up and just buy all new things when they reach their new home. When you're a professional footballer, this is something you can actually do. So upon agreeing to terminate his contract with West Brom and signing with his hometown club, Malmo, Swedish Markus Rosenberg donated everything in his Midlands home to charity.

The Swede had his contract with the Baggies cancelled by mutual consent earlier this month but before departing from England he donated all the furnishings from his luxury house in Solihull to the Sue Ryder care centre charity.

That included not only all of Rosenberg's furniture but also items such as kitchen plates, cutlery and utensils, taking six hours to clear.

The haul is set to net the organisation, which provides compassionate care and support for people with long-term and end-of-life needs, several thousand pounds.

Since Rosenberg is going back to his hometown club, it's probably safe to assume he already has a fully furnished house there, so instead of dealing with duplicate items, he and his wife decided to put them to good use. Plus, the 31-year-old has played for six different clubs in five different countries over his career, so the thought of wrapping one more glass in newspaper likely made him want to scream.

A Sue Ryder representative told PA Sport: "At Sue Ryder we re-use, recycle and re-sell over 15,000 tons of donations a year that might normally end up as unnecessary landfill. Just one bag of unwanted clothes could help us provide four hours of incredible hospice and neurological care to people with life-changing illness across the UK."

Rosenberg didn't score a single goal for West Brom in his season and a half with the club, so credit to him for finding a way to go out on a positive note.
