Gerardo Martino discussed Sandro Rosell's resignation as Barcelona president during his Saturday press conference: "I totally respect Rosell's decision. We can only focus on the sporting side of things, which is what we can influence. It's not an ideal situation, but we all need to stick together".
The Barca coach admitted that he has tried to remain impervious to the saga: "It's not nice news to get and I've tried to block it all out. The squad has to keep its spirits up and not lose heart. We have to react through our football".
Martino also revealed how he found out that Rosell was going to quit: "I spoke to him before he announced his resignation. He didn't have to explain himself to me. He always showed a lot of faith in me and I would have preferred for us to keep working together, but it wasn't to be. I don't feel my position is any weaker than a week ago".
Neymars "deserve credit"
The Argentine also pooh-poohed the idea that the saga will take its toll on Neymar: "I don't think this will affect Neymar's return to the side or his performances. He's looked the same as ever to me. He and his father deserve credit for having cleared the club to disclose the figures".
Tata also acknowledged that Rosell's decision has come as a blow to the players, while stressing that the squad remains completely united: "We aren't under any more pressure than before. Everything looks fine in the dressing room to me. The players are saddened by the situation, but they know that the best way to move forward is to perform well on the pitch".
