Catania vs Bologna preview - Curci could return for Bologna

Bologna are hoping to have goalkeeper Gianluca Curci available in time for Monday's relegation battle at Catania.

Curci, who has not missed a game so far for Bologna, is struggling with a muscular problem and is doubtful for the match at the Angelo Massimino stadium.

With or without Curci, Bologna coach Stefano Pioli is expecting a tough trip for his team despite Catania sitting rock bottom in the standings.

Pioli's men halted a six-match winless run when they beat Genoa 1-0 on December 22.

That result allowed Bologna to end 2013 one point and one place clear of the relegation zone.

Pioli now hopes his players can kick off the new year in style and climb up in the standings.

"After the break there are always unknown factors but we have worked intensely," he said.

"We know that we will find a Catania who are as determined as we are. Plus it's a difficult place to play at.

"But we know that we can win the game, we want to return with the three points."

Catania have lost just twice at home this season and will be hoping to make the most of their games at the Angelo Massimino stadium in their bid to avoid the drop this season.

The Islanders have not won a game since November 9 and their 4-0 reverse at Roma last time out left the Sicilian outfit five points adrift of safety.

Lack of goalscoring has been Catania's main problem this season, with the Sicilians finding the back of the net just 10 times in 17 games.

Catania, coached by Luigi De Canio, are looking to reinforce their attacking line in the winter transfer market.

In the meantime, they have strengthened their midfield line by bringing back playmaker Francesco Lodi from Genoa.

Lodi, who played 86 times and scored 16 goals in his first spell with the Sicilian club, is set to feature on Monday.
