Liverpool lured by cut-price Capel
Sporting Lisbon could offer Diego Capel at a cut-price to Liverpool.

Liverpool have been alerted to the availability of Sporting Lisbon winger Diego Capel with the Mirror reporting that the Portuguese club are prepared to sell the player for a cut-price 5 million pound fee. The Spain international has made seven appearances and scored one goal this season, but the cash-strapped club are ready to offload the 25-year-old to raise much needed funds. And that has more than piqued the interest of Reds manager Brendan Rodgers who was rumoured to be interested in the player before last summer’s window. And with the Anfield club said to have continued their monitoring of the former Sevilla player, a 5 million pound price-tag could be seen as too good to refuse.

In other Liverpool news, German outlet Kicker is suggesting Rodgers is keeping tabs on Schalke youngster Max Meyer. The 18-year-old has had a season to remember for the Bundesliga club, appearing 14 times and scoring four goals in all competitions. The German Under-17 international could not prevent his side crashing to Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday, but that hasn’t stopped Liverpool’s admiration of the player. However, Meyer is tied to Schalke until 2017 and the club are expected to make an improved offer to keep him around for much longer than that.

Turning to Manchester City and Manuel Pellegrini and his staff are interested in the ‘new Arjen Robben’ -- FC Groningen’s Richairo Zivkovic. According to the Mirror, the 17-year-old had attracted interest from Liverpool last summer but City could beat their rivals to the Dutch-Serbian wonderkid. Zivkovic has been likened to Bayern Munich star Robben after a strong start to the season, scoring four goals from the bench in the Eredivisie.

And finally Inter Milan are ready to sell McDonald Mariga in the January window according to FCInterNews.it. Mariga has been on the outer this season at Inter, unable to work his way into coach Walter Materazzi’s plans. And with the 26-year-old coming off contract in June, the club are ready to cash in on the player. Southampton, home of Mariga’s brother Victor Wanyama, are thought to be leading the chase.
