Rami is expected to return to training on Monday after completing his 10 day ban imposed by the club for hitting out over the summer sales of Roberto Soldado and Alberto Costa.

Valencia will now work with the 27-year-old in order to find a suitable solution, with the club looking to offload the defender on an initial loan deal in January.

"Valencia and Adil Rami, along with his lawyers, have held a meeting this morning in relation to disciplinary proceedings opened by the club against the player last week,” read an official club statement.

“After listening to the player, who has expressed regret for the statements made against the Coach and his teammates, the club has taken into account the mitigating factors and have decided to sanction, in accordance with internal regulations, with a week of suspension of employment and payment of the player.Arsenal, Man City and Man Utd target Adil Rami on his way out of Valencia

“Regardless of the punishment, Valencia and Adil Rami have agreed to work together to find a solution that is satisfactory to both parties.”

Napoli boss Rafa Benitez rejected the chance to sign the French international last week after being approached by the Los Che president Amadeo Salvo.

Arsenal, City and United failed to match Rami's £9m valuation in the summer, but will step up efforts in the new year to land the former Lille man.
