Javier Faus, the club vice-president in charge of financial matters at FC Barcelona, gave all the facts and figures about the real cost of Neymar to the club assembly, following rampant speculation on the subject.
"It was €57 million, plus the preferential agreement for three Santos players which adds €7.9 million more, and a friendly match", he said.
Barcelona approved, at the ordinary general shareholders' meeting, a budget for this season of €505.5 million and €37.5 million profit, by 523 votes for to 12 against, with 13 abstentions.
Faus also reported on the 2012-13 season: revenue of €490.5 million and a surplus of €32.5 million.
"Neymar cost a lot, but it was in keeping with the state of the market, and it was quite positive when you bear in mind what some other clubs in Spain have paid in signings", Faus went on, not letting slip the chance to chaff Real Madrid for the world record fee paid for Gareth Bale.
In addition, Barcelona announced the opening of offices in Hong Kong to help the club make greater inroads into the Asian market.
