Dumbarton vs Falkirk preview - Kirkpatrick set for Sons run out

Dumbarton include former Hamilton and Airdrie attacking midfielder Jordan Kirkpatrick in their squad as a trialist for the visit of Falkirk.

Kirkpatrick joins a fully-fit and suspension-free squad as the Sons look to get off to a flying start, with manager Ian Murray saying: "Last season Dumbarton won only once before Christmas and we don't want a repeat of that.

"We went on a great run after that but everyone would prefer a solid start this time. We took six pointsoff Falkirk during that run and beating them again would be the perfect way to start this campaign."

Falkirk manager Gary Holt also looks set to have a full squad to choose from with Jonny Flynn expected to overcome an ankle knock.

The Bairns will again go with a youthful group and technical director Alex Smith said: "We have a young squad and are excited about the challenges ahead, starting at Dumbarton. Our players are looking to get the season off to a flying start with a win.

"We have won two cup ties but are well aware that the serious stuff starts now against a side that gave us problems last year."
