Guardiola:

Ever humble, Pep Guardiola has played down his achievements in his fledgling managerial career, instead heaping praise on his former club, Barcelona, and the players he worked with there.

With just a day to go before the Bundesliga gets underway, Pep faced the media at a press conference and was once again self-effacing with his words: "I'm not the best coach in the world. I just coached some of the best players in the world and I was lucky to have the chance to work with them", the Bayern Munich coach stated, before referring specifically to the likes of Messi, Iniesta and Xavi.

When asked about his record, Pep claimed that "helping a player is the best prize there is. You enjoy trophies at the time, but then they get put straight away in the wardrobe".

Finally, Guardiola admitted that he had wanted to sign Ribéry for Barça "on several occasions. It's just as well it's not up to me to choose the best player in Europe".
