Ozil negotiating a contract extension

Mesut Özil is a player in demand and Real Madrid knows is. For that reason, the club and his father, who is also his agent, are currently discussing a possible extension to his contract.
FIFA agent, François Gallardo, revealed only a few days ago on TV programme 'Punto Pelota' that a club from the Premier League was willing to pay €35 million for the player. That story appeared to be just that, a rumour, but it was enough to put a bee in Real's bonnet, and the club will do all within its power to make sure the German international has a secure contract at the club for many years to come.
His father, Mustafa Özil, has denied speculation about a possible transfer: "There is nothing in it" he explained roundly during the club's first training session back after the summer holidays.
"Happy in Madrid"
"Mesut is very happy at Real Madrid", he revealed as well as confirming that contract talks have opened with his son: "It is no secret that we have started conversations about extending his contract until the beginning of 2019".
All parties appear to agree that an agreement between Real Madrid and Özil is imminent. If the deal is announced shortly, the player will begin to earn around €8 million a year from the new contract.
