Kaka, the on-going dilemma

Kaka, the on-going dilemmaFour years on and Kaká continues to be Real Madrid's biggest problem as it moves to build a squad for the future. This time around, the club hopes that Florentino Pérez's move for Isco - which will add yet another attacking midfielder to the squad (Özil, Modric, Isco and possibly Jesé) - should be enough to convince the Brazilian that his time is up at Madrid.

However, if Kaká leaves, it will not be for that reason. If he stays, it will be because his astronomical salary is unaffordable for any club in the world (given his performances during the past four years). Despite all this, Real Madrid has potentially found a way out: The 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Kaká knows that he has to leave if he wants to play first-team football and have any chance of representing Brazil at its own World Cup. It is hard to imagine him playing a role in Scolari's new-look Brazil team.

After coming up against the same obstacle year after year, Real Madrid now hopes to use the World Cup to facilitate the midfielder's departure. There is hope. Kaká showed back in 2010 that the World Cup is more important to him than anything else, including Real Madrid.

Anyone who thinks that Kaká "wasn't given a fair chance" at Real Madrid and blames Mourinho (of course) should take a look at his statistics. The former Ballon d'Or winner barely turned up for 19 of the 119 games he has played for 'Los Blancos'.
