Martin Montoya called the signing of Neymar "a bombshell" but he stated that Lionel Messi is the main player at Barcelona and the Brazilian will have to adapt to that fact.

It was announced on Sunday that Neymar will join the Catalan club for a reported €28 million fee, bringing to an end one of the longest running transfer sagas in the world of football.

Many are excited about the pairing of Neymar and Barcelona star Messi but Barcelona's 'false nine' system would not accomodate two second strikers. Both Messi and Neymar prefer to operate in a deeper capacity than traditional strikers and utilise their terrific dribbling abilities to carve out chances for themselves.

Furthermore, Messi has established himself as the key player within the Barcelona first team after scoring 46 goals in the club's successful 2012/13 La Liga campain.

Montoya, 22, is delighted with the news that Barcelona have captured one of the most promising talents in world football but also admitted that Neymar has to accept the situation at the Nou Camp.

"The signing of Neymar is the bombshell," he told Marca. "It's going to be amazing."

"However, Messi is the main master of Barca and Neymar will have to adapt to the team and especially Leo.

"Leo is a great person. If Neymar behaves well, he will get along with Messi. Leo gets along with everyone."

On a personal front, Montoya has had an average season as the youngster has primarily been on the bench for the first team, making only 26 appearances in the previous campaign. But he insisted that he has no plans to leave the club and is looking forward to the next season.

"I'm happy. I have a contract until 2014. I would have liked to have played more minutes this season," he added.

"Next season I want to play at least 30 games. My campaign has been positive and I played more than I expected."

Barcelona are next in action in a friendly against Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich in the penultimate week of July.
