Robben now reigns supreme in Europe

European trophy at club level, and he did it in the best way possible. Robben, who had already lost in two Champions League finals, in 2010 and 2012, scored the winning goal to give Bayern Munich the fifth European Cup title in the club's history.
So he broke his run of bad luck in finals. For, to go with his disappointments in the 2010 and 2012 Champions League finals, Robben had also experienced a heartbreaking defeat in the 2010 World Cup final in South Africa. Arjen, finally, got rid of the jinx and at last became the star of the final.
With 89 minutes gone and the score standing at 1-1, Robben popped up with a terrific move inside the area and beat Weidenfeller with a fine left-foot shot.
Robben's ill luck in European finals began in 2010, when he was on the losing Bayern side in the Champions League final against Inter Milan, a game which was played at the Santiago Bernabéu. And then, later on that summer, he suffered another harsh blow when his Holland side lost in the World Cup final to Spain in South Africa.
Two years on, fate decreed that Robben would once again play in a Champions League final, this time for Bayern against Chelsea at the Allianz Arena, and once again, he was on the losing side.
