I have a say

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has promised to do 'everything in his power' to lead his side to Champions League glory this season.

Robben desperate for UCL success with Bayern

Robben narrowly missed out on adding the Champions League medal to his wide array of trophies after Bayern lost to Chelsea in the final via the lottery of the penalty shootout.

The Dutchman, who previously reached the semi-finals of the competition twice with former club Chelsea, was culpable for Bayern's loss in the final after he missed a crucial penalty in extra-time which would have sealed the win for Die Roten.

With Bayern having advanced into the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season, Robben has expressed his determination to make amends by leading the Bavarian giants all the way in the competition this time round.

"I'll give everything in my power for the Champions League trophy," Robben was quoted as saying by the official Bayern website.

"I've contested two Champions League finals with Bayern, and two semi-finals with Chelsea.

"But at the end of the day, you have to go on and win the cup at some point.
"We're in the quarter-finals again, so we're in good shape. But when you look at the clubs who are still in it, you know it's going to be very, very hard again this season."

However, Bayern will first need to navigate past a tricky Juventus side in the quarter-finals before dreaming of achieving success in the Champions League.
Robben insists Bayern are more than capable of beating the Italian outfit and played down the significance of playing the first-leg of the tie at home.

"We need to lay the foundations by winning at home while keeping a clean sheet," Robben mused.

"I don't think having the first game at the Allianz Arena is a disadvantage - it's actually been more of an advantage to us in recent years.

"On our way to the 2010 final, we beat Fiorentina, Manchester United and Lyon at home in the first leg and then settled the ties in our favour away from home.
"And it was the same last season against Real Madrid."

Not many will be betting against Bayern winning the Bundesliga title this season; Die Roten currently hold a near insurmountable 20 point lead at the top of the table, and Robben has expressed his delight at the prospect of finally reaching the summit of the German league once again.

"It [Bundesliga title] would be a very, very important title for us, especially after not winning anything for two seasons," Robben declared.

"We're top of the league with a huge lead and almost certain to bring the shield back to Munich, and that's outstanding."

Bayern's next fixture sees them take on Hamburg in the Bundesliga.
