Paris Saint-Germain is on the verge of signing David Beckham on a free transfer, after the experienced midfielder landed in the French capital to complete his move to the Ligue 1 giant.

The 37-year-old has been without a club since leaving LA Galaxy in December, and he had been training with Arsenal in recent weeks in order to stay fit.

Beckham had also been linked with a number of clubs in the past two months, such as AC Milan, Monaco and a few Australian sides, but he now seems destined to continue his career at PSG, where he was rumored to sign upon the conclusion of the 2011 MLS season.

The Ligue 1 leader has scheduled a press conference for 5 p.m. local time on Thursday, when it is expected to announce the capture of Beckham, according to the Associated Press.

Meanwhile, former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville is confident that Beckham will succeed at in France.

"He’s still incredibly fit, I don’t think there will be a problem with his medical and he’s always been an incredibly fit player and someone who has got incredible stamina," Neville told Sky Sports. "It’s another chance for him to continue to play at a really good level of football. Paris Saint-Germain have got a good team with plenty of exceptional players. He knows the manager there so that would be a positive move for him."
