Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has confirmed he remains locked in talks with Corinthians over midfielder Paulinho.

8.5-million euro offer for the player rejected last year but remain in negotiations to sign the Brazilian before the end of the transfer window which shuts on February 1st.

The 24-year-old, who played in Corinthians' 2012 Copa Libertadores and FIFA Club World Cup-winning teams, is seen as the ideal arrival to boost an Inter midfield which has recently sold Wesley Sneijder to Galatasaray for 10 million euros.

On Monday, Moratti was asked if there was any news from Brazil about Paulinho to which he replied: "No, none whatsoever."

But added: "Deals get done if the right conditions are there to complete them."

"As things stand, at the conditions I was made aware of, the deal might have been possible, but if those conditions change then no."

Moratti was also asked to comment on whether he would look into bringing in another midfielder following Gaby Mudingayi's long term injury blow.

"Look, the only thing you can do is say 'poor Mudingayi, he's such a lovely lad and he's been so unlucky'; not replace him. That's what I think," he said.

Mudingayi was forced off the pitch in the 52nd minute during Inter's 2-2 draw with Torino on Sunday with an injury.

A scan would later reveal the midfielder has torn his Achilles tendon.
