Getafe vs Granada CF preview - Gavilan urges fans to get behind Getafe

Winger Jaime Gavilan has urged the Getafe fans to put aside their frustrations at the team's poor form and get behind the players for the visit of struggling Granada - a match he believes could be a turning point for the Madrid outfit.

Gavilan concedes the supporters have a right to be upset after seeing Getafe slump to 11th in the league and get knocked out of the Copa del Rey during a run of six matches without a victory, but hopes they will be on side on Monday.

He told reporters: "Things are always changing in football and it can go from love to hate very quickly. We accept the criticism but you need to support the team.

"With a win we will finish the first half of the season in a very good position, with a good cushion of points. It's not a great first half, but decent. Monday's game is a turning point."

The clash against third-bottom Granada takes on added significance with Getafe facing a tough-looking run of fixtures over the coming weeks.

In three of their next four matches Luis Garcia's men face Barcelona, Real Madrid and Sevilla.

Gavilan added: "It's a very important game. One of the things we have to improve is our intensity, which we've lost in recent games. Monday is the moment to do that.".

Granada head to the capital just one point above bottom-placed Osasuna but can take confidence from some of their away performances this season, with three of their four league wins having come on the road.

Midfielder Juanma Ortiz said: "We're really looking forward to Monday's match. Granada have had some very good games away from home and we need to make the most of the weapons we have to get the victory.

"We're working very well and creating quite a lot of goalscoring chances in matches. What we need to do is win back-to-back games to continue gaining confidence and continue growing as a team."
