Aguero: "The Ballon d'Or should go to Messi"

Sergio Agüero was interviewed earlier by Argentine newspaper 'Olé' and stated that the Ballon d'Or award should go to Leo Messi: "He deserves the award for everything he's done at Barcelona and Argentina (national team)," said the Argentine, who also aspires to become a World-number-one one day. "I know it's not easy, but if you do the right things you never know (about winning the award). You always dream about becoming the best in the world", he added.

The Manchester City forward also spoke about his team's current form: "We haven't been playing like we did last season, but we're in a good position. We're improving and in the last two games have played extremely well. We've got a great team and have the ability to get back to playing like last season. Getting knocked out of the Champions League was a blow because we had high hopes for the competition. We were in a tough group. The Champions League is something we aspire to. We’ll do better in the future", he said.

The Argentina international also summed up his 2012: "It was a really positive year for my career. It was important to establish myself at City and win the Premier League. The icing on the cake was scoring the goal that decided the league title right at the death. It was a dream come true", Agüero added.

The forward went on to speak about the Argentina national team, saying that: "The most important thing is that we qualify for the 2014 World Cup as soon as possible. If you lose two games in these tough qualifying stages the other teams catch up with you. It was a good year for the national team. We are starting to gel and perfecting some of the things we do on the pitch", he concluded.
