Pato keen on Corinthia

The agent of Alexandre Pato confirmed that a deal is in place that could see the forward move to club world champions Corinthians.

Milan president Adriano Galliani confirmed last week that Pato as well as compatriot Robinho would be given permission to seek a return to Brazil in the January transfer window.

It now appears that the move is close to completion with Pato set to join Corinthians while Robinho rejoining former club Santos.

According to Calcio News, Milan will receive €15 million for Pato and €10 million for his team-mate.

Gilmar Veloz, Pato's agent, has all but confirmed the deal and stated that Corinthians, who recently beat Chelsea in the Club World Cup final, were their first choice.

"From the beginning, when we decided to return to Brazil, Pato and I chose the Corinthians. If the negotiations are successful, it will end something we have planned for a long time," Veloz was quoted as saying by Gazzeta dello Sport.

"We hope that all is well. We have already discussed with Galliani and he understood our reasons. He realizes that it's time for Pato to experience football in Brazil.

"We chose Corinthians and we were very well received, doing all that was possible so things materialize.

"There are some details between the two clubs but it is not for me to say what.

“The operation will close on January 3, and then everything will be official after we've signed.”

Sources within Corinthians seemed to be indicate that the deal could be completed as soon as January 12.

Robinho, on the other hand, may have to take a pay cut to facilitate the move and his transfer feee may only be paid over three years.

Galliani has confirmed that he'd "bet on Santos when it comes to Robinho" but Santos may yet have to stump up the full fee in order to sign the Brazil international.
