South Korea striker Heung-Min Son has opened the door for a move to Arsenal or Liverpool after admitting he is unlikely to renew his contract with Hamburg.

In demand: Heung Min Son is wanted by several European clubs

The 20-year-old, who has enjoyed a meteoric rise since leaving Dongbuk High School in 2008, is currently enjoying his best season to date, scoring six times in 12 games for Hamburg this season.

It’s a rich vein of form that has attracted the attention of a host of clubs from across Europe, including Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool.

The trio have all scouted Son extensively in the last few months, along with Monaco and
Bundesliga outfits Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Hamburg though are desperate to hang onto the strikers’ services, and have opened negotiations over a brand new four-year-deal.

However, the player himself has been less certain about committing, telling reporters last month that he is unsure if he wants to stay.

It now appears that a decision has been made, with Son all but confirming his impending exit to Bild this week.

'It’s very hard to say that I will renew at the moment,’ said Son.

Liverpool are believed to be in pole position to launch a January bid, and with the South Korean unwilling to sign on, a bid of around £8 million should be enough to convince Hamburg to sell.
