Like A Player! Di Canio: Beating Villa would be better than sex with Madonna
BORDERLINE OFFSIDE ... Di Canio says victory over Villa would be like having sex with Madonna

PAOLO DI CANIO says beating Aston Villa tonight would be like having sex with Madonna.

The Swindon boss’ favourite cup moment from his playing days was scoring the winner for West Ham at Manchester United in a 2001 FA Cup tie.

He said: “When I scored against United it was very exciting to look around and see 9,000 people cele-brating away from home.

“Sending Manchester United out was amazing. It was like having sex with Madonna and beating Villa as a manager would be just as good.

“Better than having sex with Madonna? Let me try it and I will give you an honest answer.”

Di Canio has already notched wins over Wigan in last season’s FA Cup and Stoke in the last round of this competition. And he says the board should erect STATUES of each of his players outside their County Ground home if they complete an unlikely Premier League treble by dumping out Paul Lambert’s strugglers.

Di Canio added: “To beat three Premier League teams in a row would be an amazing, fantastic achievement. It has probably never been done before in over 100 years history of the club. Aston Villa have great players like Darren Bent and Gabriel Agbonlahor, but in the cup you only get one chance.

“If we take our chance we can win. We have to believe.”

Villa keeper Brad Guzan still shudders whenever the fourth round of the League Cup comes around. Three years ago this week he produced the performance of a lifetime to defy Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

As well as a clean sheet over 120 minutes, Guzan also saved FOUR penalties on the night — including three in a dramatic shootout.

He played in every tie as Villa reached Wembley — only to be brutally axed for the final as boss Martin O’Neill recalled Brad Friedel.

Villa lost 2-1 to Manchester United in the final and Guzan admits it took all his strength of character to come back from that body blow.

He said: “That was one of the biggest disappoitments of my career.

“It was quite frustrating and a bitter pill to swallow.

“But that’s behind me now and I think it’s made me a stronger goalkeeper and a stronger person too.

“Obviously any thoughts I have of Wembley are a long way off but this is a massive game for us.”
