Parlour: Giroud is ‘main man’ at Arsenal

Olivier Giroud will become a central part of the Arsenal team and be the ‘main man’ for the Premier League side, according to Ray Parlour.
Giroud, 26, joined the Gunners in June for £13 million from Ligue 1 champions Montpellier. However, the France international failed to score in his first seven matches but grabbed his first goal in the 6-1 Capital One Cup victory against Coventry on 15 September.
“It does take time to settle at a new club and maybe into a new way of life for his family. Some players
settle straight away and others take a little bit more time but I think he has done ok,” said former Arsenal midfielder Parlour.
Giroud scored his first Premier League goal in the 3-1 win over West Ham on 6 October and Parlour believes that goal could be a defining moment in his Gunners career.
“He had a brilliant game against West Ham. I think Giroud is the main man [at Arsenal]. The goal against West Ham will help him to push on now,” added Parlour.
“I think he will be a really good signing.”
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be hoping that Parlour’s assessment of Giroud is correct as he seeks a replacement for Robin Van Persie who joined Manchester United in the summer.
