Valencia vs Zaragoza preview - Pellegrino wants results

Valencia manager Mauricio Pellegrino is plotting to jumpstart his team's disappointing season against Real Zaragoza.

Pellegrino's team have taken just five points from the 15 on offer so far in the Primera Division and Los Che already trail leaders Barcelona by 10 points.

They have also suffered defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League - so tomorrow's home encounter against Zaragoza will be vital to rebuilding confidence.

The mood in Catalonia, however, remains one of quiet determination, with Valencia's Brazilian striker Jonas Goncalves admitting that the turnaround must start now.

"The other teams are scoring points and we are not, so we must start to do that," Goncalves told valenciafc.com.

"We must win not only at home, but create a run of victories. We are six points off third place."

Goncalves is critical of his own form this season with Valencia relying on Roberto Soldado for goals.

"I'm sad about my performances, but one has to stay calm in order to return to normal," Goncalves added.

"I know that I have to work and do more things. I hope to score goals and create assists like last season."

Goncalves, though, called for patience from the support at the Mestalla as Pellegrino, in his first season in charge, attempts to stamp his own mark on the team.

"For me, he is doing a terrific job," said Goncalves. "But we also need time because he has changed the dynamic.

"The season is only just starting and we need to win to regain confidence.

"Slowly I think we're going to grow and I am certain that he (Pellegrino) is going to be as successful as he was as a player."

Zaragoza, in 12th place and one point ahead of Valencia, could give a league debut to former Celtic defender Glenn Loovens with manager Manuel Jimenez insisting: "When we play at 100% we can stand up and compete against any opponent."

Ex-Tottenham striker Helder Postiga is set to lead the Blanquillos line.
