Artwork ... Zidanne nutted rival and saw red
FRANCE footballer Zinedine Zidane’s infamous World Cup final red card headbutt has been immortalised with a statute in Paris.
The bronze artwork - titled ‘Headbutt’ - has been put on display in front of the posh Pompidou Centre.
And it’s been attracting thousands of tourists keen to grab a snap beside the 16ft work of art.
The sculpture celebrates the moment France striker Zidanne lunged at Italian star Marco Materazzi's chest during extra-time in the 2006 World Cup final.
It was made by Algerian artist Adel Abdessemed for an exhibition which will run until January.
Event organiser Alain Michaud said: “This statue goes against the tradition of making statues in honour of certain victories. It is an ode to defeat.”
