Mourinho hopes for winning run

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho was pleased to see his side defeat Rayo Vallecano and is unconcerned that they have not been accurate with their shots this season.

Mourinho thought Real Madrid were worthy winners at the Estadio de Vallecas following their 2-0 triumph over Real Vallecano in Monday night's re-arranged fixture.

Karim Benzema finished off a superb counter-attack in the 13th minute to put the visitors in the ascendancy, but it was not until midway through the second half - when Cristiano Ronaldo slotted home from the penalty spot after Jordi Amat had handled in the area - that Real made the game safe.

While they dominated for large spells, Xabi Alonso had to clear off the line in the first half and defender Alvaro Arbeloa was fortunate to see his careless back-pass catch Vallecano striker Andrija Delibasic unawares.

While Mourinho praised the efforts of their opponents, who had Jose Manuel Casado sent off for a second bookable offence in the closing stages, he was happy to see his side claim their first victory on their travels this season.

"What's important is that we've scored enough goals to win a match that we have dominated," Mourinho told the reporters in the post-match press conference
"The team has shown attitude, was committed in the match and played as a team.

"We had great opportunities at goal after the second goal. [There were] three or four where we didn't score although they were easy scoring situations.

"Last season we were very accurate and for that reason we scored so many goals. Right now, we're not in really really good form and lack confidence and what we need is to win matches.

"It's not the time to worry about accuracy at goal."

Real next host old rivals Deportivo La Coruña on Sunday and then have to prepare for the season's first El Clasico taking place on October 7.
