Friedel took offence, however, and launched a scathing attack on the player who spent four years at Old Trafford at the turn of the century.
The American wrote on Twitter: ‘Just saw barthez comments. I normally don't comment on such c**p but when disrespected by someone I don't respect I must.
'Barthez was ignorant, disrespectful and out of order to mention my name.'
Meanwhile Lloris is sure he will get more games and has vowed to ‘shake things up’ at White Hart Lane following his debut against Lazio.
Lloris enjoyed his debut and claimed afterwards that he is sure he is set for a bright long-term future at the
north London club, regardless of where he starts Sunday's home game against QPR.
'The choice lies with the coach but I'm here to shake things up a bit,' Lloris told L'Equipe.
