Players gang up on Terry: Park joins Ferdinand race protest by snubbing Chelsea captain

Fury: It had been suggested the pre-match ritual be scrapped to avoid unnecessary attention
QPR manager Mark Hughes, who had told his players it was up to them if they took part in the pre-match handshake, insisted that he had no warning of Park’s intentions.
Hughes said: ‘The players had a discussion and I was made aware that some of them were prepared to shake and some weren’t. I didn’t know which individuals were involved. It was a personal choice of each of them.’
The debacle was watched by FA chairman David Bernstein, whose organisation has called Terry before an independent disciplinary tribunal, expected to be held on September 24, to answer a charge of abuse, which he vehemently denies.
