Liverpool turn to Diego Godin as cut-price Daniel Agger replacement
Daniel Agger (L) will be allowed to leave Liverpool for the right price

Liverpool are set to complete the £15million signing of Swansea's Joe Allen in the next 24 hours, and would like to put the Agger cash towards more signings, whilst also bringing in a cut-price replacement.

Top of the list is Atletico Madrid's experience centre back Godin, who has been told he can leave the La Liga outfit for as little as £10million this summer.

Tall, commanding but also technically good, Godin is a similar type of player to Agger, but his lower wages would allow Liverpool to spend more in other departments.

Rodgers has already made contact with Atletico over the player, but is in no rush to agree terms, with a deal for Agger's exit still a little way off.

Elsewhere, Craig Bellamy is poised to seal his exit from Liverpool over the weekend, after travelling to Wales for talks over a return to Cardiff City.
