REAL MADRID hope the cut-price deal they struck for Rafael van der Vaart will help them land Tottenham’s Luka Modric.

Van der Vaart moved to Spurs for £8million two years ago — £9m less than Bayern Munich had offered.

Real want Modric but are unwilling to pay the £35m asking price.

Meanwhile, Giovani Dos Santos has warned Spurs to cash in on him now or risk losing him for nothing.

He said: “I’m leaving this summer or I’ll sign for another club for free in six months.”
