Juve make play for Higuain

Juventus have stepped up their effort to sign Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports.

Sky Sport Italia reports that Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici flew into Madrid to meet with Higuain's family to discuss the possibility of a move to Turin.

They claim Higuain has grown unhappy at the Bernabeu under coach Jose Mourinho who prefers to use the Argentinean in a rotation role with fellow forward Karim Benzema.

Higuain has scored over a 100 goals for the club since signing from River Plate in 2007.

Last month, English newspaper the Sun claimed that Chelsea were set to make a £35million summer bid for Higuain as the Blues see the Real player as a long-term replacement for veteran striker Didier Drogba.

However, Mourinho has insisted that his striker is not for sale at any price and will still be in the Spanish capital next season.

"Higuain is staying here," he told ES in a recent interview.

"He will stay at Madrid because I don't want him to go. He has an excellent contract here that runs for many more years.

"He has not come for a year and been paid little - he is on the same level as the others.

"Even if clubs offer 40, 50 or 60 million Euros, Real Madrid will not sell him."
Higuain is contracted to Madrid until 2016.
