Roy Hodgson now on boss rich list – behind rival Harry Redknapp
RICH PICKINGS ... Hodgson celebrates new job and taking 3 Lions job

ROY HODGSON has burst on to the list of football’s richest managers — but is still behind Harry Redknapp in the rankings.

New England boss Hodgson is a newcomer on the Sunday Times’ Sport Rich List after landing the top job with the FA earlier this week ahead of fan-favourite Redknapp.

The 64-year-old former West Brom chief is ninth in the rankings for Britain and Ireland with an £11million fortune.

But Tottenham manager Redknapp is one place higher and has an estimated wealth of £12m.

Hodgson’s potential to boost his earnings will increase if he does well with England, starting with Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine this summer.

Ex-Three Lions chief Fabio Capello bolstered his massive salary by fronting companies such as glasses firm Zerorh.

And the offers are set to come flooding in for Hodgson after going from unfashionable Fulham and Albion to the biggest job in football.

He already turned heads when he was unveiled at Wembley by wearing a Hublot Big Bang watch for his first photoshoot.

Sponsors are expected to target the former Switzerland national coach if he can get England winning matches at the European Championships while winning over the fans who wanted SunSport columnist Redknapp in charge.

But even with his income set to swell, Hodgson is still some way behind Manchester United chief Alex Ferguson in the Rich List.

Fergie tops the rankings with £32m, amassed during his glittering career at Old Trafford.

He is just ahead of another SunSport columnist in second place — his old United lieutenant Roy Keane on £29m.

The top five is completed by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger (£26m), Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni (£20m) and Roberto Mancini at mega-rich Manchester City with £18m.

Ex-England gaffer Sven Goran Eriksson is still in the top 10 at sixth and is worth an estimated £16m.

And there is also room for United old-boys Steve Bruce in seventh (£14m) and QPR boss Mark Hughes, who is joint ninth with Hodgson with £11m in the bank.

The likes of David Beckham, Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney are among the wealthiest players in the Sport Rich List, which is published this Sunday.

Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov was second on the UK’s Rich List which came out last weekend, with a fortune of £12.3billion.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was third with £9.5bn. Former QPR co-owner Lakshmi Mittal was top with £12.7bn.

Meanwhile, Redknapp will still be at Euro 2012 — as a TV pundit.

He is on the BBC’s team in Poland and Ukraine along with Tottenham legends Gary Lineker and Jurgen Klinsmann.
