Overcome: Muamba's fiancee, Shauna, also wept in the stands at the Reebok Stadium
Incredible recovery: The Bolton midfielder's heart stopped for 78 minutes after his cardiac arrest
'I’m very excited and happy that I came today because I really wanted to come to support the boys. I wish I was playing.'
It was left to Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp to sum up the feeling among both teams.
'It’s fantastic to see him,' said Redknapp. 'Last time I saw him was when he was being wheeled down the tunnel and I’d be a liar if I said I thought I’d ever see him again because it was absolutely desperate.
Nobody gave him a chance.
'I think the medical staff thought that night it was a bit beyond retrieval. To see him here tonight with a smile on his face is brilliant.'
Bolton manager Owen Coyle said Muamba's return had been uplifting.
