PREM RACE ... M'Vila is wanted by Arsenal and Man Utd
ARSENAL have made their move for French star Yann M’Vila as they look once again to beat Manchester United to a star signing.
Boss Arsene Wenger is confident of landing the Rennes midfielder for £17million.
Real Madrid are long-term admirers of M’Vila while United have now entered the race.
Wenger has already pipped Alex Ferguson to secure German international Lukas Podolski, an £11m deal from Cologne.
Arsenal failed with a £10m bid for M’Vila last August but, even though he is now valued at £22m, Wenger believes he can get his man for a cut-price £17m.
Meanwhile, Wenger is hopeful captain Robin van Persie could sign a new deal.
The Dutchman’s contract runs out next year and Wenger said: “I am confident for two reasons. First of all, I want to convince him to stay here and to extend his contract.
“Secondly he is not free at the end of this season, he has one year of his contract left.”
