Tardelli tells Juve to sign Higuain

Former Juventus midfielder Marco Tardelli has risked the wrath of Real Madrid by claiming that the Old Lady should sign their striker Gonzalo Higuain.

Higuain’s future at the club came under the microscope in the January transfer window with the player's father having to squash talk of his son leaving for Juve.

Tardelli played for the Bianconeri from 1975 until 1985 and he believes signing Higuain would allow Juve to make that final leap in quality to be able to win trophies on the domestic and European front.

Madrid are not in the best of moods of late - they continue to refuse to speak to the media - and this will hardly have been helped by Tardelli's latest comments about one of their star players.

"It would take them three more signings in order to make that final leap in quality. And a striker of international class, someone like Higuain, would be very useful," Tardelli told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Additionally, they need another midfielder of the highest level, and a good back-up for Pirlo. Andrea will need to be rested occasionally for the Champions League next year."

Juve recorded a 2-0 win over Inter Milan on Sunday to move back to within four points of Serie A leaders AC Milan and on course for a place in the Champions League next season.

Meanwhile, Real registered a 5-1 victory against Real Sociedad over the weekend to stay six points in front of Barcelona with nine games left to go in La Liga.
