Barcelona trainer Pep Guardiola has dismissed reports linking him with the coaching position at Chivas.
Earlier this week the Mexican outfit announced the appointment of Johan Cruyff as an advisor, and ever since rumors have surfaced that the 41-year-old coach could follow his former mentor to the club.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of his side's Liga clash with Sporting Gijon, Guardiola announced that Chivas are not in his plans for the immediate future, putting an end to further speculation.
"I have been in Mexico before, but I do not plan on returning in the short term," said Guardiola, whose contract at Barcelona expires in the summer and has yet to commit his future to Camp Nou, where has has won two Champions League trophies since taking over in 2008.
The trainer then went on to back Cruyff to make a great impact at the American club, saying, "It is a league with very good players, and Johan can only make their football better."
Barcelona hosts Sporting at Camp Nou on Saturday, with the kick-off scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
