Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella described star striker Lionel Messi as a "blessing" after his excellent display secured a 3-1 victory over Switzerland.
Messi opened the scoring but saw his strike cancelled out by Xherdan Shaqiri early in the second half. The Barcelona star then scored an additional two late goals to bag his first international hat-trick and give Sabella's side the win.
The Seleccion trainer was full of praise for Messi in his post-match press conference after his inspiring display.
"In the World Cup, even though he did not score, he was the figurehead of the team's attacking play.
"Having him in the team is a blessing, we all have to take care of him.
"Messi almost always plays well. Lately, [he] is having great performances with the team."
The Argentine trainer declared that he was pleased with his team's display and picked out some other players who impressed upon him.
"Overall, I am very pleased with the performance.
"In attack, I leave very happy because we did a very solid job. In defence, we did not suffer too much.
"[Pablo] Zabaleta did a solid job, [Federico] Fernandez played very well and [Ezequiel] Garay's effort was excellent.
