Bent suffered an ankle injury during Aston Villa’s 0-0 draw at Wigan on Saturday after landing awkwardly following a challenge from Antolin Alcaraz.
He left the ground wearing a protective boot and Villa manager Alex McLeish said: ‘He was in agony in the dressing room. He is certainly out of the England squad.’
McLeish fears his forward could be facing a long spell on the sidelines. ‘Going by his reaction, it seems serious,’ the Scot added.
