Liverpool duo Craig Bellamy and Daniel Agger should both be fit to take part in the League Cup final against Cardiff City, according to manager Kenny Dalglish.

The Welsh forward and the Danish center-back were both missing from the Liverpool squad that beat Brighton 6-1 in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Bellamy has been in excellent form for the Reds this season, having rejoined the five-time European champions from Manchester City on a free transfer in the summer, whilst Agger has formed a solid defensive partnership alongside Martin Skrtel, and Dalglish is confident that both men should be ready for Wembley.

"There are no injuries from the [Brighton] game as far as we know but we had a couple on Friday and Saturday with Bellars and Daniel Agger," Dalglish said. "We'll just have to see how they are but they should be alright."

A win over Cardiff would represent Liverpool's first major trophy since 2006 - when it won the FA Cup after a thrilling final against West Ham United - and a survivor from that day, Jamie Carragher, says he is ready for a place on the bench against Cardiff, should Agger prove his fitness and resume his partnership with Skrtel.

"Of course, every player wants to play," Carragher said. "But I went out of the team through injury and other players have come in and played well. The manager has been fair to those players and rightly so.

"Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel have been two of our best players. I've got to wait my turn, just as other players had to wait their turn when I'd been playing for so long."
