LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AP)—Barcelona defender Dani Alves says his side will keep fighting for the Spanish title despite falling 10 points behind Real Madrid.
Alves says, “As long as the title remains undecided, we’ll keep fighting and we’ll see what happens in the end.”
The Brazilian was speaking Monday before Barcelona’s Champions League match in Leverkusen on Tuesday.
Alves acknowledged the “points difference is big” in the Spanish league and said his side would congratulate Madrid if it breaks Barcelona’s three-year hold on the title.
Barcelona lost 3-2 at Osasuna on Saturday, allowing Madrid to stretch its lead by beating Levante 4-2 on Sunday.
But Alves isn’t giving up just yet, saying Barcelona must “keep fighting. It’s a question of honor, of prestige.”
