Falkirk missed the opportunity to close the gap on Scottish First Division leaders Ross County after being held to a goalless draw by Morton.
Morton had an early chance to go ahead but Derek Young's close-range header from Peter MacDonald's cross went over the bar after two minutes.
The home side continued to dominate the early exchanges but it was the Bairns who almost broke the deadlock when Colin Stewart produced a brilliant reflex save to tip Jordan White's header over the bar from six yards in the 25th minute.
The Greenock club's best chance came after 48 minutes when Thomas Scobbie was adjudged to have handled in the area and MacDonald's weak penalty was easily caught by Michael McGovern.
