The club legend has reassured supporters that the Portuguese trainer will stay put for the foreseeable future, despite reports the former Chelsea boss is ready to return to England
Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueno has played down speculation linking Jose Mourinho with a summer departure from the club.
The 48-year-old had been tipped to vacate his post and return to the Premier League at the end of the season, born from a culmination of incidents including a reported bust-up with defender Sergio Ramos and continued failed attempts to defeat arch-rivals Barcelona.
However, after the capital giants' 2-1 win over Real Sociedad on Saturday, Butragueno took the time to clarify Mourinho's position, where he insisted his job is not on the line and the club are extremely satisfied with his work to date.
"We are not aware [of any truth to rumours regarding Mourinho leaving Real Madrid]. We are very happy with him and I believe he will stay at the club," he told Canal Plus.
"Every week rumours appear, and as always, they do not affect us."
Real Madrid finish the week still top of the Primera Division table, seven points ahead of second-placed Barcelona.
