Welbeck is well backed

DANNY WELBECK is expected to sign a £42,000-a-week five-year deal within the next fortnight.
SunSport revealed in August that Manchester United had drawn up plans to keep the young striker at Old Trafford on a fresh, long-term contract.
And the Reds board is confident rookie Welbeck, 21, who hit Sunday's winner at Arsenal, will put pen to paper now as both camps have found some middle ground.
It is believed United's original offer, which was more heavily linked to bonuses, has been tweaked over the last seven days to get closer to a basic-salary deal.
Welbeck is now in line to pick up around £37,000 a week — with further add-ons for appearances and goalscoring — having originally been offered £27,000 a week before bonuses.
