Barton launches rant at Warnock

JOEY BARTON has launched an explosive tirade at his former QPR boss Neil Warnock.

The midfielder called the conduct of Warnock "embarrassing" and compared his managerial style to that of fictional England coach Mike Bassett.

It comes after Warnock — who was sacked by the Premier League club 12 days ago — said he was 'poisoned' by players using Twitter to speak to owner Tony Fernandes.

The former Rangers manager also aimed a parting shot at club captain Barton who he brought to Loftus Road in the summer.

When asked about Barton, Warnock said: "I don't want to get into talking about Joey Barton.

"Joey talks about himself enough. I just want to talk about positive things about the club."

However the outspoken player hit back today on Twitter.

Barton wrote: "Neil Warnock saying I talk too much. Now that is funny #mikebassett."

He then followed up with: "If I talked about Neil, he'd do well to get another job.

"Twitter cost him his job? I can think of a million other things #shutitwarnock.

"Lost his job and guy is blaming everyone but himself! Embarrassing, time to look in the mirror mate.

"Last thing we need right now. Big week.

"A wise man once told me to not argue with fools, people from a distance can't tell who is who.

"Not a big fan of people that try to make scapegoats out of others.

"If you live by the sword, you die by it."

The former Manchester City and Newcastle man also took an apparent swipe at Warnock's tactics as he posted: "Looking forward to the game against Wigan tomorrow.

"First time in a while we actually have a plan and seem organised. #3ptsneeded."

Barton then switched his attention back to football as he signed off with: "Off now people, big game tomorrow to focus on.

"First of 17 cup finals. Premier league survival is a must."
