The Argentina international has already established himself as a legend at Camp Nou and has now stated that he cannot imagine himself turning out for any other club
Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has declared that he could never envisage himself joining Real Madrid.
Although originally from Argentina, the 24-year-old forward is essentially a product of the Catalans’ youth academy at La Masia, having arrived in Spain from Newell’s Old Boys as a teenager in 2000.
Consequently, Messi has a deep emotional bond with Barcelona and insists he could not imagine lining up for his club’s great rivals.
"I grew up in La Masia,” he explained to Don Balon.
“I became a man with Barca and just do not see myself wearing the shirt of Real Madrid or anyone else.”
Indeed, Messi insists that he would be more than happy to finish his career at Camp Nou.
He continued: "I'm at the best club in the world. No other team could complete me as this club does.
“I hope to stay here until they get tired of me - and I hope that’s never. I'm happy and I think people are happy with me, so why change?”
Since making his debut for Barca in 2004, Messi has scored a staggering 136 goals in 193 appearances for the club.
