MALAGA, Spain (AP)—Malaga forward Joaquin Sanchez will be sidelined for a month with a leg injury, making him unavailable for the Copa del Rey series against Real Madrid.
The Spanish club said Friday that the 30-year-old player tore a muscle in his right leg in a charity match played the day before.
Joaquin has scored two goals this season after joining Malaga from Valencia as part of its major squad overhaul.
Malaga is seventh in the Spanish league standings and is set to play the first leg of its Copa del Rey series against Madrid on Jan. 4.
