Daniel Sturridge: Wigan draw was upsetting but it would be stupid to assume Chelsea is out of the title race

Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge still believes the Blues have what it takes to win the Premier League title despite the "upsetting" 1-1 draw with Wigan on Saturday.

The London club dropped two points at the DW Stadium despite Sturridge having struck to give it a 1-0 lead but the England forward insists that his teammates will pick themselves up ahead of Thursday's meeting with Tottenham.

"These sort of draws are upsetting because we worked so hard for the full game but we conceded a goal at the very end," Sturridge told the club's official website.

"But we are going to pick ourselves back up and we are going to work harder in training and be ready for the next game."

Chelsea currently sits in fourth place with 32 points. League-leader Manchester City has 41 points in 16 games.

"It is frustrating for everyone and it is important that we bounce back, which we will. We have done that in the last few weeks when we have had difficult games and we have stepped up, and we will step up in the next game and continue to fight for the Premier League," Sturridge told the site.

"It is the best league in the world because every team in the top six can win it. We are one of them and I believe we can. There are still five months to go and I think people would be stupid to assume Chelsea are out of the title race. We are going to fight to the very last game."
