BULLISH ... Juan Mata
JUAN MATA insists Chelsea have nothing to fear from Manchester City and says the Premier League title race is still wide open.
Spanish winger Mata is convinced that the Blues have finally stopped the rot with back-to-back wins against Newcastle and Valencia.
Now he aims to inflict City's first Premier League defeat of the season at Stamford Bridge.
Mata said: "City are the leaders and are playing well, so we have the ultimate respect for what they are doing. But do we fear them? Not at all.
"At the moment City have a big lead but it is difficult to believe that they will keep winning every game like they have been so far.
"Even though we are now 10 points behind them, it's definitely not impossible for us to catch them. The title is not decided for another six months and if we can beat City it will give everyone a lot more confidence."
Mata will be up against former Valencia team-mate David Silva, 25, and believes the City wide-man has helped to transform the face of English football this season.
The 23-year-old said: "A lot of Spanish players have come to the Premier League in the last few years and I think it's good for English football to have different styles. We've been allowed to play like we did in Spain, with more possession, more passes and more assists."
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas admits his team dare not lose tonight if they still have any realistic hope of wining the Premier League title.
He said: "In England, it is so much tighter at the top than in other countries. In Spain, it's almost abysmal that Real Madrid and Barcelona are at such a different level to all the other teams. Here there are seven teams competing for the title and you know that if you have an off-day you can lose points to anyone."
