Ibrahimovic: I'm stronger than Messi
Posted Wednesday, December 07, 2011 by ESPN
AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic feels that he can prove himself to be world's best footballer despite not being nominated for the FIFA Ballon d'Or.
The Swedish striker was not named for the 23-man shortlist for the prestigious award but when asked to pick the most likely winner between rivals Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, he backed himself instead.
"In my head I am the strongest of all. I certainly don't need the Ballon d'Or to prove that I am number one."
The former Barcelona man, does however, acknowledge Messi as a prodigy and understands why he is highly rated among supporters.
"Messi is very strong and I hope he continues in that way", Ibrahimovic told Telefoot. "He has won almost everything and is still very young."
The 2011 Ballon d'Or winner will be announced at the beginning of January next year.
