The Portuguese trainer insists the Clasico is at the back of his players' minds, and says that opposite trainer Frank de Boer should also take the same stance ahead of the match
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has claimed that his team's sole focus is their Champions League clash with Ajax on Wednesday, rather than the Clasico encounter with Barcelona on the weekend.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Group D tie on Tuesday, the 48-year-old has reassured fans that they will take the fixture seriously, despite already qualifying for the knockout stage, and claims that the much-anticipated derby encounter has not crossed his players' minds.
"We are fully focussed on the match against Ajax. The Clasico is not in our heads yet," said Mourinho. "It's always nice to be back in Amsterdam, and playing against Ajax is always special for me."
Mourinho also revealed that a second-string XI should not be expected, after hinting that a number of first-teamers will be on display at the Amsterdam ArenA, and the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
"Some players that start tomorrow will also play against Barcelona, but I can't say how many," he cryptically concluded.
Kick-off in the Netherlands is scheduled for 20:45CET, as Ajax only require a draw to achieve progression as group runners-up.
