Charlie Adam: Disappointed to see midfield partner Lucas ruled out for the rest of the season
Charlie Adam has expressed his sadness at Lucas' season ending injury, but is backing him to return even stronger.
Brazilian midfielder Lucas has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in the midweek Carling Cup win over Chelsea.
Adam has forged a good midfield partnership with Lucas since his summer arrival from Blackpool and he admits everyone in the squad are disappointed to lose the South American.
"We are all really sad for Lucas because he's been one of the best players for us again this season," Adam told the club's official website.
"He's gutted and he knew when he got the injury it didn't feel right, but we are all behind him and giving him support. He's a terrific player and it's a big blow for us.
"We have been playing well together but he is a top Brazilian international and has been fantastic for us.
"He is going to be a loss but I texted him the other day and told him he will come back stronger mentally, and physically a better player."
